Midwife Led Postpartum Care in Leland & Wilmington, NC
MIDWIFE LED POSTPARTUM CARE
Wild Moon Midwifery offers in-home postpartum care for families across Wilmington, Leland, Wrightsville Beach, Southport, and Hampstead, NC — whether you delivered at home, in a hospital, or at a birth center. Casey Hartell, DNP, CNM, WHNP comes to you for newborn checks, healing support, feeding help, and mental health screening through your fourth trimester.
WHO THIS IS FOR
Whether your birth was medicated or unmedicated, happened in a hospital or at home, the weeks that follow look the same for almost every new mom: you're learning your baby's cues, figuring out feeding, and running on very little sleep.
The last thing you need in the middle of that newborn bliss bubble is a string of appointments to drive to. Wild Moon's postpartum care package means Casey comes to you — so instead of loading up the car seat and running around town in those first fragile weeks, you get to stay home, stay in the bubble, and actually enjoy getting to know your baby while a midwife handles the checkups.
If you live in Wild Moon's service area, this is for you, no matter how or where you gave birth.
YOUR POSTPARTUM CARE PACKAGE
Every family gets the same visit schedule, home visits included, regardless of where you gave birth.
Third trimester (optional):
A meet and greet visit before baby arrives — get to know Casey, ask questions, and start your postpartum plan together before you need it.
24 to 36 hours postpartum — home visit:
Newborn head to toe assessment, weight check, breastfeeding support, review of your bleeding and healing, mood check in.
Day 3 postpartum — home visit:
Newborn weight check, jaundice check, feeding support, emotional check in.
1 week postpartum — home visit:
Newborn weight check, healing assessment, mood and bonding screening, feeding troubleshooting.
Week 1 to 2 — lactation visit:

This is midwife led postpartum care the way it was always meant to be — someone in your corner from before baby arrives through your six week checkup, not just a single follow up appointment.
Investment: $997

Lactation Support is Included!
Every postpartum care package includes one introductory visit with Lactation Counseling Services (Rachael and Jennifer, IBCLC). Wild Moon coordinates the scheduling for you as part of your postpartum care, so breastfeeding support is built in from the start, not something you have to track down on your own.
WHY MIDWIFE LED POSTPARTUM CARE
Hour-Long Visits
Every visit is scheduled for a full hour, so you have time to get real support and have every question answered.

We Watch for Warning Signs
Casey tracks bleeding, fever, baby’s weight gain, and other red flags so issues are caught early.
Mental Health Screened Every Visit
You’re screened for postpartum depression and anxiety at every visit, not just once.

POSTPARTUM CARE FAQ
Do I need to have had a home birth with Wild Moon to get postpartum care?
No. This package is built specifically for families who delivered elsewhere — a hospital, a birth center, or an unplanned transfer — and want midwife led postpartum support at home afterward.
What if my birth included a hospital transfer or a C-section?
Wild Moon's postpartum care applies regardless of how or where you delivered. Follow your hospital discharge instructions for anything surgery or transfer specific, and Casey continues your postpartum visits, breastfeeding support, and warning sign guidance alongside that.
How soon after birth can visits start?
Your first postpartum home visit happens 24 to 36 hours after delivery, with an optional meet and greet available during your third trimester so you're not starting from scratch.
Is lactation support included?
Yes. Every package includes one introductory visit with an IBCLC through Lactation Counseling Services, coordinated by Wild Moon.
What areas do you serve?
Anywhere within about 60 minutes of Leland, NC — including Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, Southport, and Hampstead.
